Round 2 – Bedworth
The
11th of May 2008 saw the second round of the 2008 TORC series.
Both Jake and Ryan contended, Jake in Modified and Ryan in Stock. The
weather forecast gave high temperatures and a full day of sunshine. This
proved to be correct and the track temperature peaked at 32 ºC. The
Bedworth club run a free practice session from 7:30 am. Jake and Ryan took
full advantage of this and squeezed as many runs in as possible.
The first round of qualifying
started at 9:15, Ryan had a solid run to place him in the top 15. Jake
placed himself 9th. The end of qualifying saw Ryan place 9th
in the B final with Jake 10th in the Modified A final.
In the first final Ryan suffered
heavily from interference and unfortunately ended up in 10th
despite a fantastic first lap to push him self up into 2nd. The
second final and the interference was again costing Ryan. He made a list of
fantastic manoeuvres to work his way up into 2nd after the first
lap until the radio interference hit. Consistently before the first corner Ryan’s
car was darting all-over the track, he coped very well and managed to bring
home 9th. Being 10th Overall in the B final.
The finals started for Jake with
the track temperature still rising. He put a new set of the hard Sorex
32Rs. On the first lap he moved up into 3rd after the first
corner pile-up. Unfortunately his car didn’t have the pace and slowly
dropped back down the field. In the second final again he made a quick
start and maintained 7th position. Overall he finished 8th.
In the championship Ryan is placed
11th in Stock with Jake 6th in Modified. The next
round will be competed at Wrexham on the 25th of May.
